My sister has always been a fan of anything made with cheese. And in my case anything with crab was a total winner. And so this dish was a favorite of my sister and I. The baked grated cheese on top, a specific part of this dish and we would always fight for.
This recipe is probably one of the easiests and quickest that I learnt from my father and was a favorite at all gatherings at home.
Those who do not wish to add crab and are looking for a vegetarian alternate can use corn.
INGREDIENTS:
Crab Meat
1/2 Red Bell Peppers (either diced or julienned)
1/2 litre Milk
1/2 cup Flour
100 grams Butter
250 grams Cheese
Salt and Pepper as preferred
Recipe:
In a pot, bring the milk to boil. In a small cup or bowl, take the flour and add few spoons of the milk, mix well till the flour is dissolved completely and there are no lumps. Then add this flour mix to the milk. Add butter, cheese, salt and pepper and mix on a low flame. Continue to stir till you have a smooth consistency.
Then add the crab meat or corn and bell peppers and mix well.
In a casserole dish, pour in the crab mix and add some grated cheese on top.
In a preheated oven, push in the casserole. Let it cook for about 3-5 mins at about 175 degrees celsius. Since the dish is already cooked on the flame we’re just letting the cheese set on top.
Serve hot with some garlic bread chunks or sticks.
